The Colorado State University-Pueblo Department of Athletics is hitting the links for the 15th year as it hosts one of the top fundraising golf tournaments in the community, The 15th Annual ThunderWolves Classic.
Benefitting the CSU-Pueblo Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund, The ThunderWolves Golf Classic is vital in helping the athletic department reach its scholarship goals and thus attracting more high quality student-athletes to CSU-Pueblo. Currently, the CSU-Pueblo Athletic Department, with more than 550 student-athletes in competing in 22 varsity sports, provides the equivalent of 117 in-state scholarships, thanks mostly to private donations. Through events like The ThunderWolves Golf Classic, the CSU-Pueblo Athletic Department hopes to increase the amount of scholarships to 148. With these increases, CSU-Pueblo coaches will be able to recruit not only better athletes, but better students and citizens.
CSU-Pueblo is on the move, upgrading to state-of-the-art equipment and technology and climbing the Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference standings. But there is a cost for taking such strides. With fewer state and federal government dollars each year, CSU-Pueblo must look for additional sources of revenue to better serve the needs of our students and to fulfill our mission as a regional and national competitor in Division II NCAA athletics.
What's on tap at the ThunderWolves Golf Classic?
The entry fee for the 4-person scramble event is $800 and includes green fees, cart and range balls and a post-golf lunch as well as on-course drinks, contests and giveaways.
