 "Developing Champions Through Athletics"

Thank you for interest in the Colorado State University-Pueblo Department of Athletics.  Our department's key words - "Developing Champions Through Athletics" - is more than just an empty slogan.  Our coaches, administrators and University staff conduct themselves daily with the goal of providing the very best atmosphere for our student-athletes to achieve their goals both on the playing surface and in the classroom - to be CHAMPIONS in all walks of life.

Colorado State University-Pueblo is proud to be a member of NCAA Division II and of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).  CSU-Pueblo is philosophically committed to the Division II goal of "Life in Balance", which puts the emphasis on the student-athlete's collegiate experience, stressing a comprehensive program of learning and development in a personal setting.  The Division II approach provides growth opportunities through academic achievement, learning in high-level athletics competition and development of positive societal attitudes in service to community.

Prospective student-athletes will find a one-of-a-kind experience at CSU-Pueblo.  CSU-Pueblo is the fastest growing University in Colorado, as enrollment as increased over 125% over the past two academic years.  A big reason for that rise is the recent athletic expansion at the University in 2008, which added football, men's wrestling and women's track and field programs to CSU-Pueblo.  The result has been a boom in enrollment, the expansion of academic programs, and the expansion of facilities to accomodate the University's diverse student population.  In the past three years alone, numerous buildings have been added to the campus, including two new residence halls, a student recreation center, a newly refurbished Massari Arena and Sam Jones Sports Center, and the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl, home of CSU-Pueblo's football and track and field programs.  The University library is also currently undergoing a renovation and will open in 2011 as one of the finest University libraries in region.

As a visitor or fan of CSU-Pueblo, whether travelling with your university's athletic team or visiting as a fan, you will find a University and athletic program that operates in a first-class manor.  CSU-Pueblo believes strongly in NCAA Division II's "Game Environment" initiative, which allows for fair competition between the competing athletes, provide exciting entertainment for fans in an atmosphere that all can enjoy (students, adult and youth fans), and one in which the athletes and coaches display (home teams/coaches in particular) a high level of sportsmanship.

Division II athletics programs are a center of pride for communities across the nation, which is particularly true at CSU-Pueblo.  Across the board, CSU-Pueblo athletics events gets THE BEST fan support in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and some of the best support in the nation.  In 2009-10, CSU-Pueblo led the RMAC in home attendance in the three biggest spectator sports: football and men's and women's basketball.

In short, ThunderWolf Nation is indeed a force to be reckoned with.
