PUEBLO, Colo. (October 26, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Mariangel Perez (Sr., Catia La Mar, Venezuela) and Aaron Strunk (Sr., Springfield, Mo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Mariangel Perez dominated in all facets of the game for the Pack this weekend. Perez finished with 28 kills in a split weekend at Adams State and Fort Lewis. Perez finished with 14 kills and 14 digs in each of her two matches.
Perez now has eight double-doubles in 2016 including each of her last three matches. She has double digit digs in each of her last nine contests.
Because of her efforts this weekend, Perez now ranks 10th in digs all-time at CSU-Pueblo (924). Her 952 career kills places her eighth on the school's career leaderboard.
On the men's side, Strunk guided CSU-Pueblo to a 1-1 record to finish the regular seaon for the ThunderWolves.
Strunk scored two second half goals en route to a 3-2 win Sunday at Colorado Christian. He managed to connect his only two shots of the contest, adding to his season total of three goals scored this year.
He scored the first Pack goal in the 55' against CCU, taking a penalty kick awarded to CSU-Pueblo and placing the ball low and out of the reach of the goalkeeper.
Strunk finished the contest with his second score with :30 showing on the game clock, receiving a pass from midfield and hitting a one-timer to the back of the net securing the Pack win.
The volleyball team remains home this week and host Westminster Saturday at Massari Arena for Senior Night. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
Men's soccer ends its season with a 8-10 record.
