Schultz and Jones named Pack Athletes of the Week presented by Mobile Record Shredders

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 16, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Megan Schultz (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Joseph Jones (Sr., Fountain, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.

Schultz put forth an incredible defensive effort that extended her college career as she led the Pack to its 3rd consecutive RMAC Tournament appearance. The senior finished the week with 14 blocks and 12 digs. Schultz also delivered 16 kills and five service aces. She hit .283 for the week.

In a five-set battle with Adams, Schultz swatted down seven blocks including three solo blocks. Schultz had another seven blocks against Westminster with one solo rejection. She also had 11 kills and three aces, while hitting .379 to lead the Pack to the win. She averaged 1.4 blocks per set this weekend.

Tuesday in the first round of the RMAC Tournament, Schultz hit for a .353 hitting percentage, knocking down seven kills. She compiled three digs and a block as the Pack fell in straight sets at top seed MSU Denver.

Schultz posted 0.94 blocks per set this season, which ranks as the ninth highest total in Pack history. Her 103 total blocks ranks eighth in school history. She stands 10th in the RMAC in blocks/set this season.

Senior safety Joseph Jones, playing in his final game, had a career day to help guide the Pack to a fifth RMAC title in the last six years and a 27-14 win against Chadron State.

Down 14-0 midway through the second, Jones returned an interception 82 yards to the end zone to move the score to 14-7. The touchdown was the first in his football career.

The senior finished with seven tackles (two solo), which included his first tackle for loss of the season (-1 yard).

For her efforts Schultz earned her first RMAC Defensive Player of the Week accolade.
