PUEBLO, Colo. (September 13, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Miriam Roberts (Sr., Boulder, Colo.) and Marcelo Laguera (Jr., Chihuahua, Mexico) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Roberts won the Colorado College Invitational with a 6K time of 22:29.50, which was 11 seconds faster than second place. She averaged 6:01.9 per mile to help guide the No. 20 ThunderWolves to third behind No. 17 UCCS and winner, No. 11 Colorado Mines. The win marked the first meet victory of her career.
On the men's side, Laguera won the Colorado College Invitational, as he crossed the finish line of the 8K race in 25:10.00, just a step in front of teammate Paul Roberts (25:10.15). He helped guide the No. 7 ThunderWolves to second behind No. 3 Colorado Mines. The returning All-American averaged 3:08 per 1K in his winning performance that had 100 athletes in the field.
The cross country team next competes Sept. 16 at Stegemoller Classic National Preview in Evansville, Indiana.
