PUEBLO, Colo. (October 19, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Phoebe Pontious (So., Caledonia, Mich.) and Protus Babaya (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Pontious started her second season with a pair of victories. Pontious posted a time of 55.41 a win in the 100 free.
The sophomore also posted the third fastest time in school history in the 50 free. Her time of 25.21 gave Pontious her second win of the night. Pontious also helped the Pack's 200 medley relay team to a second place finish. Pontious' relay points made her the Pack's top individual scorer.
On the men's side, Babaya scored his second career goal in as many games Friday in a 1-1 tie at Colorado Christian. The frosh tallied his score in the 56th minute after a shot to the back left of the net after a pass straight into the box.
Babaya netted his first collegiate goal Oct. 8 against Westminster.
The Pack swim and dive team competes Saturday in the United States Air Force Academy Invite in Colorado Springs. The men's soccer team hosts South Dakota Mines Friday at 7 p.m. on Senior Night at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
