Black voted Athlete of the Week for Mar. 13, 2008

The ThunderWolves came in to the RMAC Shootout semifinals last Friday having a major mountain to climb.  The ThunderWolves were facing Fort Lewis, who had defeated the Pack twice this season, and were boasting a No. 9 ranking in the country.  CSU-Pueblo, meanwhile, came in with only a 1-20 record all-time against nationally-ranked teams.  If the Pack was to win, they would have to play one of their best games, and get a world-beating game out of arguably their best player, Lindsay Black.

And Lindsay gave her teammates that and then some.

Black averaged 19.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game in leading the ThunderWolves to a 70-68 overtime win over Fort Lewis in the RMAC Semifinals, and a 70-54 win over Nebraska-Kearney in the conference championship.  For her efforts, Black was named RMAC Shootout MVP and now has been selected as the CSU-Pueblo Athlete of the Week by visitors to GoThunderWolves.com!  Congratulations, Lindsay!

A NEW ATHLETE OF THE WEEK POLL WILL BE POSTED EVERY MONDAY THROUGH THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!  TO VOTE, VISIT THE FRONT PAGE OF THE THUNDERWOLVES WEBSITE AT http://www.gothunderwolves.com/.

The final vote:

Lindsay Black (RMAC Shootout MVP; 19.5 PPG, 9.5 RPG) (1495) 35%

Amber Higby (2-0, 0.48 ERA vs. Regis) (1490) 35%
