PUEBLO, Colo. (January 26, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo's Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash.) and Tim Urenda (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Mobile Record Shredders.
Tuileisu Anderson averaged 18.5 points per game in two games over for the weekend. After a quiet first half Anderson delivered an amazing second half that helped the Pack become the first RMAC team to knock off Colorado Mines this season.
Anderson scored 21 second half points including 15 in the 4th quarter as she propelled the Pack past the Orediggers 59-50. Anderson knocked down career high 11 free throws on 14 attempts as she took over the game scoring 13 consecutive points for the Pack.
Anderson scored 16 points in the Pack's loss to Colorado Christian Saturday. Anderson stayed hot at the free throw line hitting all four of her attempts. She went 15-of-18 (83.3 FT percentage) on the weekend.
Urenda from the Pack wrestling squad defeated the No. 2 ranked Terrance McKinney of Chadron State by an 11-9 decision at 149 in a dual with the Eagles Wednesday. After trailing 6-0 in the first, Urenda battled back and recorded a seven-point third period to edge the highly-ranked Eagle for the victory. Urenda ranks No. 6 in Super Region Four, while McKinney is No. 1. The win gave the Pack an 8-7 lead, but CSU-Pueblo would lose the dual 16-15.
Urenda was also named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week, Tuesday.
The women's basketball team remain on the road this week with contests at Colorado Mesa and Westminster (UT), while the ThunderWovles wrestling team will host Adams State University Jan. 29 in a RMAC dual beginning at 7 p.m.
