What to expect with this episode:
Segment One - RMAC Football Media Day
What makes CSU-Pueblo Football so special? Let's look back to the 2014 RMAC Media Day to hear from opposing players and coaches about the ThunderWolf mystique!
Segment Two - Love And The Leomiti's
Donnell & Lauren Leomiti have exhibited a loving strength in the face of a fight against cancer. Coach Leomiti made 15 separate trips to the Emergency Room before a diagnosis of stomach cancer in the Fall of 2013. The Leomiti's have been tested, but their courage and faith remain strong. Family has been there every step of the way, but at the end of the day, Lauren is home with their four kids and the last 10 months have weighed heavy on her mind.
Donnell said he remembers having tubes in his mouth, unable to
talk, but he could see the hurt in Lauren's eyes. The helplessness
and pain she felt. Taking the kids back and forth to Parkview
Medical Center, spending their wedding anniversary in a hospital
room and her husband in a coma.
Let's meet the Leomiti's, first, through the eyes of Lauren.
Segment Three - Mariangel and CSU-Pueblo Volleybal
She was discovered by a Venezuelan boxer. Eleven years old and
growing by the day, Mariangel Perez was tagging along with her mom
to a coastal gym in northern Venezuela. Her Mom was a boxer and had
to train for an upcoming fight. One of her Mom's partners took
notice of Mariangel.
"Have you ever played volleyball?"
Mariangel, had not.
Brazil, Peru, & Argentina are regarded as the top three
South American countries for indoor women's Volleyball. From 1964
to 2004, Venezuela failed to qualify for the Olympics. Eleven
straight Olympics, 11 straight failures. As Mariangel aged, more
gyms were opening and a Venezuelan volleyball identity started to
take shape. In 2008, the Venezuelan National Volleyball Team not
only qualified for the Olympics, they traveled to Beijing &
Perez's passion for the sport grew and offers to play collegiately in America arrived. In her first year with the CSU-Pueblo volleyball team, the sophomore is off to an explosive start! This is Mariangel Perez of Catia La Mar, Venezuela.
