Pack salvages split behind lights out pitching

The Pack's pitching was deeply in need of some consistency Sunday against New Mexico Highlands.  They found it in Matt Davitt, who pitched five stellar innings in leading the Pack to a 7-2 win.

Davitt only allowed three hits and no runs in five innings of work, turning the game over to reliever Mario Mattivi, who was just as consistent.

Mattivi only allowed one hit and a walk in 3-1/3 innings of relief work, closing out the game and earning the save, solidifying the Pack's win.

Offensively, leadoff hitter Rutger Bovard broke out of an 0-for-9 slump in a big way, going 4-for-5 and scoring three runs.  His performance was part a 12-hit game put up by the Pack, a good close to a series that saw the ThunderWolves outhit the Cowboys 39-32.

The win moves the Pack to 7-3 on the season, just a half-game behind Highlands for the top mark in the RMAC.  The ThunderWolves will return home for their conference-opening series next weekend when Nebraska-Kearney comes to town.
