Pack's Cordova earns all-region nod
PUEBLO, Colo., May 21, 2008 - CSU-Pueblo outfielder Thomas Cordova (Jr. - Whittier, Calif.) added another award to his collection Wednesday, as he was recognized as a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-West Region team Wednesday as a second team selection.
Last week, Cordova was recognized as a member of the Daktronics Division II All-West Region second team.
Cordova, who led the ThunderWolves in most major offensive categories, including home runs (11), RBI (62), and slugging percentage (.673), also finished third on the team in hitting with a .393 average. Cordova was also among the national leaders in doubles, recording 24 two-baggers in 2008, the 24th most in the country.
Overall, Cordova's 2008 season was one the most productive offensively in CSU-Pueblo history. His 62 RBI makes him just one of 20 players in school history to drive in 60 or more runs in a season. He is the first ThunderWolf to reach the plateau since 2006.
