TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - CSU-Pueblo baseball alumnus, Jeff Williams, now pitching for the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League, was selected as a Frontier League All-Star, the league reported Monday.
Williams was added to the Traverse City roster at the end of
spring training in 2007 and set a team record for saves last year.
This season, he leads the Frontier League with 10 saves in his 17
appearances. Three times he has posted the last five outs of a
contest, leaving the tying runs on base in the eighth. He has
pitched in 18 games and has not allowed a run over the last 12.1
innings of work. His ERA sits at 0.98 entering play on Sunday, when
he threw a scoreless frame.
Williams is one of the top pitchers in CSU-Pueblo history, having
posted back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2005 and 2006, the only
pitcher in school history who can claim two 10-win campaigns.
His 20 career wins is the fourth-highest win total in CSU-Pueblo
history, and his career ERA of 3.70 is the fourth-lowest in school
history.
