Pack drops pair at Metro State

DENVER, Colo. ( - Feb. 26, 2011) - Facing strong pitching and hot bats, CSU-Pueblo lost two in a non-conference doubleheader with Metro State, falling 7-2 and 12-7.

The Pack was held to just three hits in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader as Metro State's Jake Draeger was untouchable for seven innings.

For CSU-Pueblo, starter Cole Stephens (Sr., Amarillo, Tex.), despite only giving up six hits and two earned runs over six innings, took the loss.

In the second game, the Pack started out in 9-0 hole as Metro State uncorked seven hits on the ThunderWolves over the first three innings.  A five run fourth by the ThunderWolves, capped by a two-run home run by Jake Orr (Sr., Eagle Mountain, Utah) wasn't enough as the Roadrunners immediately went up 11-5 in the bottom of the fourth, holding the Pack at bay.

CSU-Pueblo, now 2-4, will host Metro State in makeup doubleheader Tuesday at Rawlings Field in Pueblo in another non-conference matchup.
