PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - May 31, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo second baseman Chase Lacomb (So., Las Vegas, Nev.) was named the ABCA/Rawlings Division II Gold Glove recepient, becoming the first ThunderWolf in school history to win the award, it was announced Tuesday.
Lacomb, who committed just one error at second base during the 2011 season, was named the top fielding second baseman in the nation by the American Baseball Coaches' Association, which recognizes one national Gold Glove team and eight regional Gold Glove teams. Lacomb was previously a Central Region Gold Glove selection.
Of the nine position players to receive national Gold Gloves, Lacomb, a sophomore, was the only underclassman.
Prior to his national Gold Glove honor, Lacomb was one of just four ThunderWolves in school history to receive regional Gold Glove honors. In 2010, second baseman Mike Sanchez and third baseman Austin Roff each received regional honors, while J.T. Greenhood (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) was a 2011 honoree.
