PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 31, 2012) - Four ThunderWolves were named preseason all-region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, it was announced Tuesday.

CSU-Pueblo was also picked to finish 10th in the Central Regional Rankings in 2012, meaning it would fall short of a Central Regional Tournament bid if the baseball writers' poll is correct.

CSU-Pueblo, which went 28-25 last season, boasted three preseason all-region selections in outfielder Andrew Castaneda (Sr., San Jose, Calif.), middle infielder Chase Lacomb (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) and outfielder J.T. Greenhood (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.)Tim Pomierski (Sr., Upland, Calif.) also received second team all-region honors.

A season ago, Castaneda led the ThunderWolves in steals with 29, hitting .335 on the year.  Greenhood was second on the team in home runs with eight, only behind departing 2011 all-region selection, Kyle Wager.  Lacomb returns this season after becoming the first ThunderWolf to win a Rawlings National Gold Glove Award after making just one error at second base last season.  Pomierski ended the 2011 campaign leading the team in ERA and boasting eight saves.

CSU-Pueblo will open its season Feb. 17 for a four-game series with Montana State-Billings at Rawlings Field.
