OMAHA, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 6, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo closer Tim Pomierski (Sr., Upland, Calif.) was one of over 130 student-athletes from across NCAA Division II to be placed on the watch list for the Tino Martinez Award, given to the top Division II baseball player.

It marks the first time in which a CSU-Pueblo player has been placed on the watch list throughout the short history of the award.

Pomierski was an all-conference closer in 2011, recording seven saves, a 2.11 ERA, leading the ThunderWolves in both categories.  This season, he was also a Preseason All-Central Region selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Over one hundred thirty exceptional student-athletes comprise the initial watch list for the 2012 Tino Martinez Award for the most outstanding player in DII college baseball. The annual honor is named after the former University of Tampa Spartan, Olympian and MLB All-Star, Tino Martinez.

Nominations for the award were made by baseball sports information contacts and media members. Omission from the initial list does not exclude additional players from future consideration.

The list will be updated with a mid-season release mid April. Semi-finalists are scheduled to be announced on May 7th with the finalists to be named on May 21st.

After the finalists are named fans will be once again be invited to vote online at tinoaward.com to help determine the winner. The winner will be announced after the conclusion of the DII Baseball Championship held in Cary, NC from May 26th to June 2nd.
