Pack bats, Fabrizio solid in win over Metro State
ThunderWolves gather first Friday night win of the season.
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 16, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo recorded 16 hits behind a stellar eight-inning effort from Mike Fabrizio (So., Pueblo, Colo.) on the mound during a 9-2 victory over Metro State Friday night.
Fabrizio was nearly flawless on the mound as the Pack opened its series with the Roadrunners, allowing just five hits in eight innings of work, striking out five. The only pitch he'd like to have back was a third inning home run ball to Jeff Levett, which scored the Roadrunners' only two runs of the game.
While Fabrizio held the Metro State offense in check, the Pack bats lit up the Roadrunners to the tune of 16 hits, with five ThunderWolves turning in multi-hit nights.
The bottom of the lineup played like clean-up hitters, as seven-hole hitter Mike Knueppel (Jr., Mesa, Ariz.) and Cameron Hart (Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.) at the bottom of the lineup combined to go 4-for-9 with four RBI, with Knueppel knocking in three of those runs.
With the win, CSU-Pueblo improves to 8-11 on the season and 5-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The ThunderWolves will look to win its third straight game and potentially a fourth Saturday when it plays two with the Roadrunners, starting at 1 p.m.
