ThunderWolves head to Highlands for RMAC series

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 16, 2017) - After starting the season with 18 of their first 22 games at home Colorado State University - Pueblo Baseball will hit the road for an eight game road trip beginning with a 2 p.m. game Friday at New Mexico Highlands University.

Friday's game between the Pack and the Cowboys will start a four game series. CSU-Pueblo currently stands 4-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The ThunderWolves own a 10-12 record overall. The Cowboys bring a 7-12 (3-5 RMAC) record into the weekend. 

A pair of New Mexico natives have sparked the Pack's offense. Albuquerque natives  David Gunther and Ambrose Romero will try to keep their hot streaks going as they return home.

Gunther has raised his average to .327. He is hitting .463 in RMAC play. Gunther went 7-for-13 last weekend against Colorado School of Mines last week. 

Romero leads the RMAC with 25 RBIs. His .394 average leads the Pack. Romero plated seven runs in the Pack's series split with the Orediggers. 

Kyle Lazcano (SR., Anaheim Hills, Calif.) has been dominant as the Pack's Friday starter. Lazcano leads the RMAC with 39.0 innings pitched and 45 strikeouts. The Righty's 2.08 ERA leads the Pack while his three wins rank third in the conference. 

CSU-Pueblo will continue its series with NMHU Saturday with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. before wrapping up the series with a game Sunday at 12 p.m. The Pack will head to Grand Junction, Colo. for a showdown with rival Colorado Mesa University. They will return home April 7 to play Adams State University at 3 p.m.
