ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 3, 2017) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo Dance Team achieved its highest finish at a national competition. The WolfPack Dance Team placed third in the Hip Hop division at the USA Collegiate Cheer Competition.
"We are one proud group," said CSU-Pueblo Head Cheer & Dance Coach Vonni Taibi. "We go against a lot of teams so we are pretty excited with the results of our kids."
After competing in the open dance division for each of the past three seasons, Taibi and the Pack decided to enter the hip hop division. In a two-day competition, the Pack overcame three of the six universities competing in the D-II and D-III division to post their highest finish in school history.
"We had six universities in our division so to be able to pull off this upset from this was huge for us," Taibi said. "This is a building stone for our program. To bring home a trophy in this division was just an amazing task for us."
The Pack beat fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference school, Westminster College. Their third place finish was the highest by any RMAC school in any division.
'I am so proud of this team on their team goals they set," Taibi said. "We had so many parents that flew out to watch us too so it was pretty exciting for us."
