Colorado State University Pueblo announces contest to design football uniform, helmet
PUEBLO - Building community and statewide involvement and
enthusiasm for the return of football at Colorado State University-
Pueblo is at the heart of a new design contest that runs through
the months of September and October. The university will award a
$250 cash prize or $1,000 scholarship and a personalized football
jersey to the winning entry in a contest to design the uniform and
helmet for the gridiron Thunderwolves.

The contest was announced this week by Head Football Coach John
Wristen and Athletic Director Joe Folda. The University eliminated
football in 1985 and will return to action in the NCAA Division II
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the Fall of 2008 along with
wrestling and women's track and field.
"We want students, faculty, alumni, and the citizens of Pueblo,
southeastern Colorado, and the entire state to become fans of
Thunderwolf football and to feel a pride and ownership in our
team," Wristen said.
The new football uniforms will be unveiled after the first of the
year, and will make their debut on Sept. 6, 2008 when the
Thunderwolves take on Panhandle State in their home opener.
"With this design competition, we hope not only to obtain new
uniform and helmet designs, but to continue the buzz that has been
established in recent months by the hiring of Head Coach John
Wristen, former University of Southern Colorado quarterback, and
the announcement of a campaign to build the Eddie and Neta DeRose
ThunderBowl Stadium on campus in time for the first home game,"
said Folda.
The competition is open to the public and will run from Sept. 1
through October 31, 2007. The winning entry will be selected by a
campus committee, which reserves the right to reject any or all
entries. The number of entries is limited to one per artist. All
entries become the property of CSU-Pueblo. Since the university
will be sole owner of entries, submissions are not subject to joint
ownership or interest. Entries will not be returned. By submitting
an entry, participants agree to all the terms of the contest, which
are included in the attached document.
