Fort Morgan lineman takes fire to Pueblo(Ryan Jensen) - Fort Morgan Times, Feb. 5, 2009

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University-Pueblo football program has added over 40 new signees for the 2009 season, including a number of four-year and two-year college transfers, as well as standout and all-state high school players from Colorado, California, and all points in between.

The ThunderWolves have added 42 new student-athletes, with heavy focus placed on offensive and defensive linemen, adding 13 and five at each position, respectively.

The Class of 2009 is the second for CSU-Pueblo, having just played its first season in 24 years in 2008, finishing with a 4-6 record, the fourth-highest win total for a first-year program in NCAA Division II history.

The 2009 class marks the first "typical" offseason signing class for the program, which added over 60 high school freshman in its 2008 class.  The hallmark of the Class of 2009 is its size, with 26 of the 41 signees measuring in at 6-foot-2 or taller.  The most physically imposing player in the Pack's Class of 2009 is offensive linemen James Vicars (Jr., Torrance, Calif.), who measures in at 6-foot-9 and 340 pounds.

"We are looking to address needs all of our needs with this class, and I believe we accomplished that," CSU-Pueblo head coach John Wristen said.  "The caliber of athlete we have gotten from this class is superb, and it will allow us to be even more competitive right away."

The student-athletes featured in the Class of 2009 will be presented Thursday at the CSU-Pueblo Signing Day Luncheon, where each athlete will be introduced with video highlights and a few words from coach Wristen.

The following players have signed National Letters of Intent to play football at CSU-Pueblo.  For more information on each athlete, click their name to see their biography.
