Pack Football ‘Spring Fan Fest’ this Sunday

PUEBLO, Colo. (Apr. 14, 2009) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo football fans are invited to attend the first ever ThunderWolves Spring Fan Fest, this Sunday, April 19, at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

The Spring Fan Fest is a community engagement event developed by the CSU-Pueblo Department of Athletics to offering tailgating, free parking, free football fun zone for all kids in 8th grade and under, the ThunderPup Stretch with the Wolves program, and the annual CSU-Pueblo Red/Blue intra squad game.

The Spring Fan Fest will begin at 11 a.m. when the parking lot opens for tailgating.  Hot 95.5 FM radio will be doing a live remote broadcast from the party and Pepsi will be giving away free samples.

At noon, the "Football Fun Zone" will open, giving young fans the chance to work out with the Pack and use the team's tackling dummies and blocking sleds, as well as run passing routes and kick field goals.

At 12:30 p.m., free registration will open for the ThunderPup Club's "Stretch with the Wolves," similar to the ThunderPup Clinics offered by all other CSU-Pueblo sports.  For a five dollar fee, registrants can also purchase a "ThunderPup Club" T-shirt and receive discount coupons to Southern Colorado Wendy's locations.

The Spring Football Game will kick off at 2 p.m. when the "Red Team", coached by CSU-Pueblo Provost Russ Meyer, will take on the "Blue Team," coached by CSU-Pueblo President Joseph A. Garcia in an offense-versus-defense intrasquad contest.  The game will serve as a preview to the 2009 ThunderWolf football roster.

The cost to attend the event will be a minimum $1 donation, with proceeds benefitting the CSU-Pueblo Student Athletes' Advisory Committee and Make-A-Wish Foundation.  CSU-Pueblo students and children ages six and under will be admitted free, though donations will be accepted.  Concessions and barbecued hamburgers will be available at the event.
