PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University-Pueblo football team has added nearly 50 high school and junior college signees to its roster for the 2010 season, CSU-Pueblo head coach John Wristen announced Wednesday on "National Signing Day."
The Pack's signing class, its third since the program's rebirth in 2008, is one of the ThunderWolves' best yet. It includes 45 new signees, including five prospects ranked as Division I-caliber prospects by national football recruiting websites - defensive end Beau Martin (Littleton, Colo./Mullen HS), quarterback Jake Johnson (Longmont, Colo./Longmont HS), quarterback Ross Dausin (San Antonio, Tex./Butler County (KS) Community College), wide receiver Deontrae Cooper (Riverside, Calif./Citrus Hill HS), and defensive back Blake Johnson (Bremerton, Wash./Olympic HS).
CSU-Pueblo, which went 7-4 in 2009 following a 4-6 campaign during its inaugural season 2008, finished third in the 10-team Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference last season. The Pack's new signees will be relied upon to lift the ThunderWolves to future RMAC titles and hopefully a national playoff berth.
"We are looking to take our next step toward a championship in 2010, and this group should help us reach that goal," CSU-Pueblo head coach John Wristen said. "Several of these guys may see immediate playing time as we look to fill holes left by our seniors, while others will provide much-needed depth."
"We're thrilled about what this class offers and the potential upside we get from this great group of guys," he added.
The student-athletes featured in the ThunderWolves' Class of 2010 will be presented Friday, Feb. 5 at the third annual CSU-Pueblo Signing Day Luncheon at the Pueblo Convention Center. For more information about that event, click here.
The following players have signed National Letters of Intent to play football at CSU-Pueblo. For more information on each athlete, click their name to see their biography. In some cases, the athlete has an accompanying link to a highlight video. Several athletes have gotten Division-I looks, and any athlete ranked at a "one-star" or above on national recruiting websites (Rivals.com, Scout.com) also have that information listed.
