ThunderWolves send seven to all-RMAC squads

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Led by first-team honors by tailback Jesse Lewis (So., Loveland, Colo.) and linebacker Chase Vaughn (Sr., Aurora, Colo.), the ThunderWolves saw seven of its members get all-RMAC honors, the RMAC announced Thursday.

Lewis, who became just the third 1,000-yard rusher in CSU-Pueblo history with his 1,064-yard campaign in 2009, helped the ThunderWolves to mount the 14th-best rushing attack in the nation. With backfield mate Jamaal Johnson (So., Fountain, Colo.), who also earned third-team all-RMAC honors with a 906-yard season, CSU-Pueblo saw its rushing attack improve from 10th-worst in the nation in 2008, accumulating just 655 yards, to a 2,479-yard season in 2009. As a backfield combo, Lewis and Johnson rushed for nearly 2,000 yards, fifth best in the nation.

Amazingly, none of the Pack's offensive linemen earned all-RMAC honors.

Vaughn closed out his collegiate career moving from defensive end to outside linebacker, where he logged 70 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles and 12 tackles for loss. He even toted the rock twice in the season's final game vs. Adams State, scoring two rushing touchdowns.

The remainder of the Pack's all-RMAC honors came on defense - defensive end Jerry McWilliams (Sr., Fountain, Colo.) earned second-team honors, while the team's tackles leader, inside linebacker Lee Meisner (So., Sterling, Colo.), as well as cornerback Chris Brown (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) took home third-team honors. Also honored was kickoff returner Augustine Agyei (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) with third-team honors.
