PUEBLO, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo senior linebacker, Chase Vaughn (Sr., Aurora, Colo.), a two-time first-team all-RMAC selection and a 2008 all-American, has committed to play in the 2010 Valero Cactus Bowl, a Division II all-star game being held in Kingsville, Tex.

Vaughn, widely regarded as the ThunderWolves' most dangerous defensive player, closed out his collegiate career moving from defensive end to outside linebacker, where he logged 70 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles and 12 tackles for loss.  He even toted the rock twice in the season's final game vs. Adams State, his former school, scoring two rushing touchdowns.

Vaughn will be one of 80 players from across NCAA Division II to be showcased for scouts and fans at the 2010 Valero Cactus Bowl.  Founded in 1994 as the Snow Bowl and played in Fargo, N.D., the Cactus Bowl has the strongly-defined mission to bring together the finest football athletes from the 150 plus universities which comprise NCAA Division II. The first seven years of the Snow Bowl produced over 100 players signed by the NFL and in the inaugural Cactus Bowl game alone, 25 players signed NFL contracts, inspiring the game slogan "the best players you've never seen."

On January 12, 2001, the Snow Bowl found a new home in Kingsville, Texas, as was consequently renamed the Cactus Bowl due to lack of frozen precipitation and abundance of prickly vegetation in South Texas.

The Cactus Bowl is played in an East/West format and the teams are comprised entirely of the 'best of the best' NCAA Division II college seniors. The Cactus Bowl Committee, comprised completely of volunteers, is responsible for all aspects of organization for the contest and net profits from the Cactus Bowl are donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  The Al Amin Temple of Corpus Christi will be involved in the Cactus Bowl pre-game preparation and game-day operations.  The game will feature 80 Division II players from all over America.

The Cactus Bowl will take place Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Tex.  For tickets or other information on the game and its players, visit the Cactus Bowl website as www.cactusbowl.org.
