WACO, Tex. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 20, 2010) - CSU-Pueblo continued to receive votes for the AFCA Division II National Top 25 poll, garnering 11 votes, the AFCA announced Monday.
It marked the third straight week in which CSU-Pueblo "received votes" and the first time in program history that is received more than one vote in the national poll.
Currently at 3-0 and off to their best start since 1980 (when CSU-Pueblo won their only RMAC championship), the ThunderWolves are one of just three RMAC teams to appear in the poll, joining Colorado Mines (13 votes) and defending conference champ, Nebraska-Kearney (ranked 19th). The Lopers improved from a ranking of 23rd last week.
CSU-Pueblo is the only undefeated team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
It marks the fourth time since the program was restarted in 2008 that the ThunderWolves received votes in the AFCA poll. Each time previously, CSU-Pueblo received one vote.
Prior to its forays in the AFCA Division II poll, the ThunderWolves last appeared in a national poll in 1983, when the program was still classified as an NAIA school. The other major national Division II poll, run by D2Football.com, will be released Tuesday.
