Meisner, Lewis garner preseason All-American honors

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - June 20, 2011) - Two ThunderWolves, linebacker Lee Meisner (Sr., Sterling, Colo.) and running back Jesse Lewis (Sr., Loveland, Colo.) were selected to the Division II Consensus Draft Services Preseason All-American squad, the CDS announced Monday.

Meisner received second-team Preseason All-American honors while Lewis earned an honorable mention.

Last season, the 5-foot-11, 240-pound linebacker led the Pack and the RMAC with 124 tackles in 2010, earning him a first-team All-RMAC selection on defense and garnering other awards including 2010  ESPN Academic First Team All-District VII and 2010 Daktronics Super Region 3 First Team Defense. Recently, he was also added to the 2011 Sporting News Division II Preseason All-American Team. 

In 2010, Lewis had a breakout junior season for the Thunderwolves, tallying up 1,391 yards on the ground and 14 touchdowns while starting in 10 games. He averaged 7.9 yards per rush, placing him first in the nation, and 139.1 yards per game, which ranked him third in the nation. The senior running back had a season-high 239 yards on 18 carries for one touchdown against Western State back in November 6, 2010. Also, he had a season-long 83-yard run versus Fort Lewis on September 25, 2010, while swapping playing time with another running game threat Jamaal Johnson to lead the nations 16th- best rushing attack in 2010. Lewis led the RMAC in rushing yards and scoring touchdowns in 2010.
