Meisner named Regional Defensive Player of the Year
Pack senior headlines region-high five all-region selections.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 30, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo linebacker Lee Meisner (Sr., Sterling, Colo.) added another honor to his trophy case Wednesday after being named the Super Region 3 Defensive Player of the Year, making him one of five ThunderWolves to earn Daktronics All-Region 3 Honors.
Meisner, the first ever ThunderWolf football student-athlete to earn regional player of the year honors, also earned first-team all-region honors. He was joined by two teammates on the first-team - return specialist Josh Sandoval (So., Pueblo, Colo.) and placekicker Kyle Major (Sr., Littleton, Colo.). Also earning honors as second-team selections were guard J.T. Haddan (Jr., Craig, Colo.) and cornerback Mark Sterling (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.).
First team all-region honorees are now eligible for Daktronics, Inc. Division II Football All-American selection. The announcement of those All-American teams is expected on December 13th, preceding the NCAA Division II Football Championship, which takes place Dec. 17 in Florence, Ala.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from Super Region #3, made up of football playing institutions in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
