Meisner, Wristen headline All-Colorado accolades

Pack leads all schools with 12 selections, including seven first-teamers.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 22, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo senior linebacker Lee Meisner (Sr., Sterling, Colo.) was named the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Defensive Player of the Year Thursday, joining his coach, John Wristen, who was also named Colorado Coach of the Year.

The duo headlined a crop of 12 ThunderWolves earning inclusion on the All-Colorado squad, which picks the top players from all Colorado colleges, including six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools, one FCS school (Northern Colorado), and three BCS schools (Colorado, Colorado State, Air Force).  Of the Pack's 12 entrants on the squad, seven were first-teamers, tops among all teams in both respects.

Meisner led the player selections, adding to an ever-expanding trophy case in 2011 that has included an All-American honor as well as three player of the year honors - RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, Daktronics Super Region 3 Defensive Player of the Year, and RMAC Academic Player of the Year. 

Wristen's coaching honor is his second this season, also receiving RMAC Coach of the Year honors.  He is also one of five national finalists for the prestigious Liberty Mutual Division II Coach of the Year award.

Meisner earned first-team honors, being joined by kicker Kyle Major (Sr., Littleton, Colo.), two offensive linemen, J.T. Haddan (Sr., Craig, Colo.) and Ryan Jensen (Jr., Fort Morgan, Colo.), defensive end Grant Jansen (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), and half of the Pack secondary - Mark Sterling (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Stephan Dickens (So., Aurora, Colo.).

Earning second-team honors were tailback Jesse Lewis (Sr., Loveland, Colo.), center Jonathan Jones (Jr., Houston, Tex.), safety Jon Bailey (Sr., Fort Morgan, Colo.), defensive end Corey Orth (Jr., Buena Vista, Colo.) and punt returner Josh Sandoval (So., Pueblo, Colo.).

The team was selected by National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter board members and sports information directors from the 10 institutions represented by the team.
