PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 1, 2012) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo football team is announcing its high school and junior college signees to its roster for the 2012 season, CSU-Pueblo head coach John Wristen announced Wednesday on "National Signing Day."
In 2012, CSU-Pueblo not only added many of Colorado's top prep athletes to its signing class, but extended its tentacles across the country to such football hotbeds as California, Texas and Arizona. The Class of 2012 now includes 38 new National Letter of Intent signees, as well as numerous institutional letter of intent signees (not listed), and includes several ranked as Division I-caliber prospects by national recruiting websites.
In all, CSU-Pueblo is adding four athletes rated at "two stars" or above by top football recruiting websites (Rivals.com, Scout.com, ESPN) and another 15 signees that have been ranked at their positions on at least one of those web sites.
CSU-Pueblo is coming off its best season in school history, finishing the regular season with a perfect 11-0 record and the program's first outright Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship in school history. It ended the regular season as the top-ranked team in the nation and earned the country's number-one seed in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
The class of 2012 is the first class entering CSU-Pueblo after the program officially rose to national prominence, showing the caliber of athlete the program can attract with the higher profile earned by the team.
"We are selling a program that has done what no other program in the country has done: risen from a startup to number one in the nation and 11-0 just four years later," Wristen said. "From the beginning, we have had a blueprint for building this program - a blueprint based on integrity, respect, tradition, hard work and commitment. We now have the luxury of cherry-picking the guys that we think embody what it means to be a Pack football player, both in talent and character."
The student-athletes featured in the ThunderWolves' Class of 2012 will be presented Wednesday evening, Feb. 1 at the fourth annual CSU-Pueblo Signing Day Event at the Pueblo Convention Center. For more information about that event, click here.
The following players have signed National Letters of Intent to play football at CSU-Pueblo. For more information on each athlete, click their name to see their biography. In some cases, the athlete has an accompanying link to a highlight video. Several athletes have gotten Division-I looks, and any athlete listed on national recruiting websites (Rivals.com, Scout.com, ESPN.com) also have that information listed.
CSU-Pueblo will release the names of the members of the Class of 2012 once the University obtains a signed National Letter of Intent from each student-athlete.
