FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (GoThunderWolves.com - May 13, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo All-American linebacker Lee Meisner is just one step away from realizing his NFL dream.
The recently-graduated senior, invited to participate in a Rookie Mini-camp with the Atlanta Falcons this past week, was one of just three invitees from that tryout signed to an NFL contract with the club, the Falcons reported today.
Meisner will stay in Georgia until June 29, then he will return home to Colorado before departing again for the Falcons' training camp on July 25.
Signed as a fullback, he was and two other invitees were signed Sunday, including Toledo wide receiver Kenny Stafford and Georgia tight end, Aron White.
With his signing, he becomes the first member of the modern incarnation of the CSU-Pueblo football team (since 2008) to sign an NFL contract and/or receive a training camp invite. Only 2009 alum Augustine Agyei came close, earning a mini-camp invite with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010.
As a member of the ThunderWolves, Meisner was a highly-decorated inside linebacker for the Pack, selected as an All-American, Academic All-American, RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and Regional Defensive Player of the Year, just to name a few.
(Note, this list may be incomplete. If you have changes or clarifications to this list, please contact the CSU-Pueblo Department of Athletics. It only includes those signed by an NFL team.)
