DURANGO, Colo. (October 6, 2015) – Colorado State University-Pueblo senior running back Cameron McDondle (Littleton, Colo.) has been named the top football player in the state of Colorado from last weekend, as he was honored as the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame - Colorado Chapter Player of the Week.
The NFFCC recognizes the top football student-athlete from the 10 football programs in the state of Colorado each week.
The honor is the second for McDondle in his career, as he was honored Nov. 18, 2014.
McDondle was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week Monday, as he continued to show why he leads the nation in rushing, as he racked up 203 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries in the 56-0 victory at Adams State University. He averaged 10.7 yards per carry and recorded rushing touchdowns of 73, 41 and 17 yards. He only carried the ball once in the second half, as he totaled 186 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries (10.3 ypc) in the first two quarters. He added one reception for seven yards to round out his day on an even 210 yards of offense.
McDondle leads the nation in rushing yards (927), ranks second in rushing yards per game (185.4), sits third in rushing touchdowns (11) and is ninth nationally in yards per carry (7.79).
The ThunderWolves will battle with the only team to beat them in 2014, Oct. 10 in the annual homecoming game. The RMAC contest is set for a 2 p.m. start and will air live on Comcast CET (channel 105/900 HD). The 2015 class of the CSU-Pueblo Athletics Hall of Fame will be recognized at halftime of the game.
