DURANGO, Colo. (November 3, 2015) – Senior running back Cameron McDondle (Littleton, Colo.) of the No. 4 Colorado State University-Pueblo football team was tapped as the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame - Colorado Chapter Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season, Tuesday.
He was tabbed Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in 2015, Monday.
McDondle continued his dominate ways with 248 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in the 42-10 victory at Black Hills State University. The performance marked his third 200-plus running game of the season and fifth time with three or more touchdowns. He carried the ball 30 times for an 8.3 yards per carry average. His touchdowns went for 71-,4- and 32-yards.
McDondle leads the nation in rushing yards (1,783 yards), rushing yards per game (199.2 ypg) and rushing touchdowns (22).
With three touchdowns against BHSU, McDondle moved into a tie for second place all-time in the RMAC career record books for rushing touchdowns (54). He is already second in career rushing yards (5,499).
Of the nine weeks of naming the best football player in Colorado (all divisions), McDondle is the only one to earn the award multiple times. He was honored by the NFFCC Oct. 5 after racking up 203 yards and three touchdowns at Adams State College, then again Oct. 27 after he totaled a school single-game record 308 yards and two scores against then-No. 7 Colorado School of Mines.
Saturday's final home game of the regular season will likely determine the outright RMAC Champion and move the winning team one step closer to the 2015 NCAA Division II Football Playoffs. The No. 4 ThunderWolves and No. 16 Mavericks are set to kickoff at 2 p.m. from the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl. The game will air live on Comcast CET (105/900 HD) for Xfinity subscribers in Colorado.
