COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 3, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo football team was tabbed to finish first in the 2015 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll Monday, after earning its fourth straight conference title and an NCAA Division II National Championship in 2014.
The league also released its Preseason All-RMAC selections at the annual RMAC Kickoff event at the Marriott in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nine members of the Pack were selected to the preseason all-conference team, guided by RMAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Morgan Fox (Sr., DL, Fountain, Colo.). Fox was announced as the yearly award winner Thursday.
Also receiving the Preseason All-RMAC nod were Cameron McDondle (Sr., RB, Littleton, Colo.), Kieren Duncan (Sr., WR, Goodyear, Ariz.), Gary Dixon (Sr., OL, Fontana, Calif.), Zach Martinez (Sr., OL, Redlands, Calif.), Tony Campton (Sr., NG, Littleton, Colo.), Seth Brown (Jr., OLB, Colorado Springs, Colo.), Ben Estica (Sr., OLB, Palm Beach, Fla.) and LaRon Tarkington (Jr., S, Phoenix, Ariz.).
The ThunderWolves were the unanimous favorite in the poll voted upon by the head coaches of the RMAC, as the Pack earned nine first-place votes (coaches can't vote for their own team) and 81 total points. CSU-Pueblo shared the 2014 RMAC Championship with Colorado School of Mines, who earned the final first-place vote and totaled 72 points. Chadron State College rounded out the top three with 62 points.
CSU-Pueblo begins its NCAA Division II National Championship title defense Sept. 5 by hosting Central Washington University at Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.
The RMAC season begins at home with Western State Colorado University Sept. 19.
