Boyd, Payer, Wise earn Don Hansen All-Region honors

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (January 20, 2017) - Three members of the Colorado State University-Pueblo football team were recognized as Don Hansen All-Super Region Four Third Team. Zach Boyd (Jr., TE, Fort Lupton, Colo.), Brandon Payer (So., ILB, Pine, Colo.) and Daniel Wise (Sr., WR/RS, Arlington, Texas) were all honored by the publication.

All-Region Team Bios

Zach Boyd (Third Team Offense) – All-RMAC First Team Offense ... NFFCC All-Colorado First Team Offense ... Played in 11 games at tight end … Totaled 20 receptions for 234 yards (11.7 ypc) to rank fourth on the team in both categories … Scored three touchdowns, which was the second most on the team and recorded a long reception of 47 yards … Averaged 21.3 yards per game … An extension of the offensive line that helped lead the Pack to 195.8 rushing yards per game and rank No. 14 in NCAA Division II in least tackles for loss allowed (4.36) … 2015 All-RMAC Second Team.

Brandon Payer (Third Team Defense) – All-RMAC First Team Defense ... NFFCC All-Colorado First Team Defense ... Started all 11 games at inside linebacker … Totaled 103 tackles (40 solo) to lead the team and tie for second in the RMAC … His 100-plus tackle season marks the fourth time since 2008 a member of the Pack has reached that plateau … He compiled 10.5 tackles for loss (-19 yards) to rank tied for sixth in the conference … Forced three fumbles to tie for the second most in the RMAC … Added four break-ups and an interception (returned four yards) … Named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week twice … Academic All-RMAC First Team.

Daniel Wise (Third Team Defense - Return Specialist) – All-RMAC Second Team Punt Returner ... All-RMAC Honorable Mention Kick Returner ... Played in all nine games and started nine at wide receiver … On 19 punt returns he totaled 301 yards to average 15.8 yards per return, which ranked 12th nationally … His long return went for 80 yards … On 13 kick returns he compiled 382 yards to average 29.4 yards per return … His long went for 58 yards … The 683 combined kick return yards ranked 36th in NCAA Division II at the end of the regular season … Finished with 21 receptions (third on team) for 350 yards (second on team) and four touchdowns (tied for first on team) … He averaged 16.7 yards per catch, 31.8 yards per game and his long went for 47 yards.

The ThunderWolves finished the season 8-3 overall and 8-2 in RMAC play to share a conference championship, their fifth in the last six seasons and sixth all-time.
