Chadron uses charities to bury ThunderWolves

Chadron State 76, Colorado State-Pueblo 63

CHADRON, Neb. - Foul trouble by the ThunderWolves was the difference in a closely matched game between CSU-Pueblo and Chadron State, as the Eagles claimed a 76-63 win Saturday night.

The Eagles were 20-for-28 from the free throw line while the Pack made only three charities in just six opportunities, negating an otherwise steady performance by the ThunderWolves that saw them shoot 40 percent from the field and have three players score in double-figures, paced by Rome Smith with 17.

The ThunderWolves saw the game get out of hand early in the second half, when the Eagles went on an 11-4 run, relying on second chance scores, taking down three offensive boards and six rebounds altogether during the pivotal hot streak.

From there, the Pack never got any closer than six points away as the Eagles essentially ran away with it.

"I don't think we played bad," Pack coach Patrick Eberhart said. "The effort and the hustle was there; we just weren't efficient enough."

The ThunderWolves loss halts a would-be winning streak at two games, and is the team's fifth conference loss of the season. The ThunderWolves fall to 4-9 overall this season.
