New Mexico Highlands 75, CSU-Pueblo 58
There's no doubt about it - New Mexico Highlands has arrived in the RMAC men's basketball world. The visiting Cowboys showed their prowess Tuesday, knocking off CSU-Pueblo 75-58 Tuesday.
New Mexico Highlands won in Pueblo for only the third time in 33 meetings, building a 44-22 lead by halftime and never relenting.
The ThunderWolves only got as close as 15 in the second half despite playing a statistically strong game, shooting 43.5 percent from the field.
The game opened in auspicious fashion - New Mexico Highlands' Chris Dunn laid down an alley-oop dunk from Roman Andrade, and the Cowboys went up 23-8 halfway through the half.
CSU-Pueblo was led by Jake Trahern (Sr., Kit Carson, Colo.), the only ThunderWolf to score in double-figures, who put up 13 points and eight boards.
The ThunderWolves will look to right the ship Thursday when it hosts Western New Mexico at Massari Arena.
