Pack outlasts pesky Adams State team

CSU-Pueblo 88, Adams State 76

The ThunderWolves used its athleticism to pull away from Adams State in the second half, cruising to an 88-76 win Friday.

The Pack, playing in front of over 3,000 fans on "Take a Kid to the Game" night, needed a shot at the buzzer by Roman Van Allen (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif.) to even go into halftime with a tie.  Deadlocked at 31, the ThunderWolves looked to put the Grizzlies away in the second half.

The game went back and forth at the beginning of the half until the ThunderWolves used a 9-0 run to pull ahead 54-46 at the 13:04 mark, thanks in large part to back-to-back treys by Chris Busch (Sr., Oakland, Calif.) and Marc Williams (Sr., Seattle, Wash.).

From there, the Pack kept Adams State at bay, and the Grizzlies never got any closer than five points from the lead.  The Pack got great nights from Williams, who netted a game-high 14 points, and a 13-point night from Van Allen, who made three three-pointers and recorded two steals.

CSU-Pueblo will have a big match Saturday night when Fort Lewis comes to Massari Arena.  Opening tip is scheduled for 8 p.m.
