Pack basketball camp successful, features 'dream state title' game
The 2010 CSU-Pueblo Men's Basketball Team Camp was a huge success, and featured a camp championship between 2010 4A champion, Sierra, and 5A champion, Regis Jesuit, in tournament play taking place Memorial Day weekend at CSU-Pueblo.
The 2010 Camp, which featured 24 of the top 4A and 5A high school teams from all over Colorado, was concluded in dramatic fashion with the showdown between a pair of back-to-back Colorado state champions in Sierra, the reigning 4A champ, falling short to Regis Jesuit, the 2010 Colorado 5A champion.
In a very competitive and up and down game, Regis claimed the tournament title using a very balanced attack. Sierra, using team speed and clutch shooting, closed the gap to single digits late but Regis quickly countered with big buckets in transition and outstanding execution down the home stretch.
Congratulations to Regis Jesuit on the capturing the 2010 CSU Pueblo team camp championship for the third year in a row!
The 22nd annual CSU-Pueblo Team Camp featured high-level competition, CSU-Pueblo head men's basketball coach, Patrick Eberhart, said.
"The games were highlighted by high energy, hustling play, buzzer-beaters, single and double overtimes as well as sudden death," Eberhart said. "It was a great tournament and it effectively showcased the high level of high school basketball in the state of Colorado as well as the CSU-Pueblo basketball program and our home court, Massari Arena."
The camp also featured a skills presentation conducted by Eberhart and members of the CSU-Pueblo men's basketball team.
