Martin named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week
Pack senior becomes first ThunderWolf to earn a player of the week honor since December 2009.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 19, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo senior guard Andre Martin (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the RMAC announced Monday.
Martin pulled down 11 defensive boards as part of a career-high 15 rebound effort Saturday
night against New Mexico Highlands. He also stole the ball nine times over the weekend. In two games, Martin averaged 11.5 rebounds, 14.5 points, 4.5 steals and 1.5 assists as the Pack won both games at home against Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands.
Martin became the first ThunderWolf to earn RMAC Player of the Week honors since December 2009 when former all-conference selection Marc Williams earned the honor. Since the RMAC moved to an awards system that honors one offensive and one defensive player of the week for the entire conference. Previously, the RMAC honored one player of the week for each division when the conference was split into two divisions.
Martin and the ThunderWolves will enjoy a two-week break before wrapping up a three-game home stand with a conference showdown with UC-Colorado Springs on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m.
