COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 16, 2017) – For the second straight week, Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball senior center Nelson Kahler (Noosa Heads, Australia) has earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
The RMAC leader in blocks increased his lead with 11 last weekend, which included nine against University of Colorado Colorado Springs to tie the school record and rank tied for third in NCAA Division II this season. The mark is also an RMAC season best. WATCH ALL NINE BLOCKS.
In just 18 minutes per game he averaged 5.5 blocks and 5.0 rebounds per contest in the 2-0 home weekend. On the offensive end, Kahler averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 75 percent from the field.
His 50 blocks this season is 28 more than second place in the RMAC and ranks tied for fourth in NCAA Division II. Kahler has swatted 114 shot attempts in his season and a half with the Pack to rank third on the school's all-time list.
The ThunderWolves (11-5, 9-2 RMAC) travel to play Colorado Christian University (11-6, 8-3 RMAC) Tuesday, which will be aired live on Comcast CET 105/900 HD. The RMAC battle is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
