COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 27, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo senior guard Will Newman (Hawthorne, Calif.) was honored as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office Monday.
Newman is the first member of the ThunderWolves (2-3) to be recognized with a weekly league honor this season. It is the first time in his career Newman has picked up the award.
Newman totaled 25 points and eight rebounds, seven defensive, in a 100-88 road win at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He knocked down 9-of-11 from the field and a pair of 3-pointers, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. The senior added a blocked shot, steal and five assists.
The ThunderWolves will battle Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) tonight at 7 p.m. before entering into RMAC play Dec. 1-2 hosting Fort Lewis College and Adams State University, respectfully. Both contests at Massari Arena are set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
