CSU-Pueblo's Duarte takes 2nd at RMAC Invite at Desert Hawk
PUEBLO WEST - CSU-Pueblo sophomore David Duarte continued his
consistent play in the third round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference Invitational at Desert Hawk Golf Course in Pueblo West
Tuesday, shooting a +2 74 to solidify his position and finish tied
for second with an ending line of +4.
Duarte's performance was helped along by his strong performance on
par three holes. While most of the field struggled on short yardage
holes, Duarte only bogeyed once in twelve opportunities on par
threes, the second best performance on short holes out of the top
ten finishers.
Duarte paced the CSU-Pueblo entrants, helping the team finish
fourth as a team. Notable CSU-Pueblo finishers included Derek
Carleo (+11, 13th), Ray Maruyama (+21, 26th), Casey Brock (+24,
30th), Jeff Johnson (+29, 36th) and Ben Scully (+38, 38th).
Duarte finished just four strokes behind tournament champion, David
Pool of Western New Mexico.
