Pack closes Fall with slight stumble

PHOENIX, Ariz. - After an impressive first two rounds at the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz., the ThunderWolves saw their production drop off in the tourney's final round, finishing 15th out of 18 teams at the competitive tourney.

The ThunderWolves put up consistent scores in the first and second rounds, turning in a 306 and a 304, but saw that mark drop off considerably with a final round 315.  Only one ThunderWolf golfer, Brandon McCoy (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), cut strokes in the final round, putting up a 76, one stroke lower than his second round total.

The ThunderWolves' third round performance was the result of a trend by the entire field, as only two of the tournament's 18 teams saw a drop off from their second round score to their third round score.

Of the five RMAC teams at the tournament, the ThunderWolves finished fourth among them. with Western New Mexico leading the charge, finishing fourth overall.  UC-Colorado Springs was 12th, Fort Lewis was 13th, and Regis was 16th.

The Grand Canyon Invitational marks the final fall tournament for the CSU-Pueblo golf team.  The Pack will return to the links on March 15, 2009.
