ThunderWolves have struggles at Peaks Invitational

LA VETA, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo showed strong improvement in the final round, but it couldn't undo a 12th place team performance by the Pack at the Peaks Invitational, 2009's first tournament.

At the Peaks Invitational, hosted by Texas-based Wayland Baptist University but played in La Veta, Colo., the Pack managed to place two golfers in the top 20 - newcomer Stuart Thompson (So., Fort Collins, Colo.) at 17th place with a +5 221, and Brandon McCoy (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) one stroke behind at 20th place with a +6 222.

The Pack rebounded from a down first and second round, where the team shot 302 and 303, respectively, to shoot a 297 in the third and final round, tied for the fourth-highest round three team total in the 14-team field.

CSU-Pueblo will take part in the first RMAC meet of the season next weekend when they travel to Trinidad to play at the Cougar Canyon Golf Course.
