Coach Koschke checks in from California

Update of Men's Golf Team from NCAA Division II Super Regionals in Palm Desert, Calif. by head coach, Josh Koschke

Hello from the desert in California.  We are competing in the NCAA Super Regional in Palm Desert California at The Classic Club.  Our road here was a bit of a roller coaster but we got it done.  We started the fall very poorly and put our self in a tough spot to be where we are right now.  With a couple additions to the team and our core players working very hard this winter we were able to do a 360-degree turnaround.  We were ranked around 18 or 19 in the region after the fall and finished in the 10 spot after the spring championship.  From what I have heard its pretty hard to move in either direction 1 or 2 spots so you can understand how impressive our jump was.  But we are here and that's all that matters.

Sunday was our practice round at the Classic Club May 3rd.  This golf course has hosted many PGA events over its long existence with the most recent being the 2006, 07, 08 Bob Hope Classic.  The course, service and staff has been nothing but first-class.  It is tough to describe this golf course other than it is very fair and extremely tough.  Each hole has water and lots of well placed bunkers over the 18 holes.  You must commit and execute every shot during your round or you will pay.

The wind blew pretty hard today during our practice round which made it very tough to just make par.  We have our work cut out for us but relish the opportunity and believe we have what it takes to get to the next level.  The tee times were made based on your regional ranking so the top ranked teams go early and we tee off around 12:30 Monday.  We know it will probably be windy and tough when we are out there but we have to get it done.  Tuesday the pairing flip and we will go early.  So we know our first round is crucial in order to give us a chance to score on Tuesday.

I as well as the team appreciates all the support from everyone and want to represent Pueblo here and at the National Championship.  For those of you interested in following us with live hole-by-hole results, you can find a "Gameday Central" page on GoThunderWolves.com by clicking here

Well it's time for us to get some sleep for our first round tomorrow.  Thank you for following us and GO PACK!
