Pack makes valiant charge but can't catch Mines
Despite cutting four strokes, T-Wolves languish in second place.
WESTMINSTER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 12, 2010) - Facing a ten-stroke deficit heading into the final round, CSU-Pueblo put up a 294 in its final round, but it wasn't enough to catch a surging Colorado School of Mines squad, finishing in second place at the Colorado Mines Invite.
The Pack ended the six-team tournament with three top-ten finishers, including Jonathan Park (Fr., Denver, Colo.), who finished third at +3 after shooting the lowest score in the field Tuesday with a -2 70. Chad Novak (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Sean Thomas (Jr., Westminster, Colo.) each finished tied for 10th.
The Pack falling short of Mines will have shock waves in their ranking. CSU-Pueblo entered the week ranked 40th in the nation in the GolfStat.com NCAA Division II Head to Head rankings, with Mines two spots ahead at 38th. This tournament will likely vault Mines up a few spots while CSU-Pueblo likely stays at the same spot after still performing reasonably well in the tournament.
The Pack will get back to RMAC tournaments next week when it closes out its fall schedule with a trip to Silver City, N.M. for the third RMAC tournament of the season.
