Pack Spotlight: Sean Thomas

Junior golfer Sean Thomas helped transform the CSU-Pueblo men's golf team into a regional power when he and longtime friend and teammate, Bryan Kruse, joined the team in Spring 2010 after attending New Mexico Junior College.  Since, the ThunderWolves are nationally-ranked are a lock to qualify for the NCAA Division II regionals for the 10th straight season.

Academics: Sean is a business major studying in the Hasan School of Business.  He carries a 3.1 GPA and is a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

In five years I will be... receiving my masters in business, unknown emphasis, and starting my career in finance.

I know Coach Koschke means business when... He comes walking down to the practice green at the course with his golf bag on his back.

One piece of advice I received from Coach Josh Koschke that will stick with me forever is... College golf is a privilege and an honor, try hard to make the best of it and never take it for granted.

The last song I downloaded was... The Billboard Top 40 Hit List

Q: What is your favorite part of being a CSU-Pueblo student-athlete?
A: I enjoy many aspects of being a student-athlete here at CSU-Pueblo. The facilities here at school are great and the attention we get from coaches and trainers are tremendous. The teachers in the business school, where I am enrolled, are very understanding and do a great job of being fair about time missed in class. Overall, it's the best experience I have had in college thus far.

Q: What was the most funny, embarassing, or memorable moment you've had with your teammates?
A: So far, the most memorable moments that I have had all come from the traveling side of our tournaments. We laugh and enjoy each other's company as though we aren't a team but a family.

Q: Who is your favorite instructor at CSU-Pueblo and why?
A: My favorite instructor so far at CSU-Pueblo comes from the Hasan School of Business. It's hard to put one professor on the spot when there are so many great professors. In my mind, Dr. Steve Norman stands out because he is really interested in our program and he does an excellent job at teaching.

Q: If you could trade places with any celebrity/athlete/etc. for a day, who would it be and why?
A: Although Tiger Woods has had negative press lately due to his actions, I would still pick him. He is my biggest sports hero because of how he has changed the game of golf. If it wasn't for him, I would not be where I am now.

Q: Who is your personal hero and why?
A: The person that stands out in my mind is my father. He has overcome so much adversity in his life and has managed to fight his way into a dream position at work all while making his family happy. He allows me not to stress while I'm here at school and makes it possible for me to chase my dream of becoming a professional golfer. He has always given me resources for my future and aspirations in golf even when we were struggling financially. I can't think of time when he didn't push me to chase my dreams and now I'm living one as a college athlete.
