ThunderWolves struggle in first two rounds at St. Edward's Invitational
AUSTIN, Tex. (GoThunderWolves.com - March 5, 2012) - The CSU-Pueblo men's golf fivesome had trouble keeping up with some of the top programs in the region Monday, placing 14th out of 17 teams after two rounds of play at the St. Edward's Invitational.
On a tough course that saw only seven of the tournaments 17 teams break 300 as a team, CSU-Pueblo lost 13 strokes from its first-round 308 to drop to 14th place. Chad Novak (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), the Pack's leading golfer in the first round, shooting a 2-under 70 to sit in fourth place after one round, hit a wall by shooting 84 and dropping to 23rd place after two rounds. Novak's first round 70 was the only sub-75 round by a ThunderWolf at the tournament.
CSU-Pueblo, now 41 strokes off the pace of first-place Nova Southeastern, will finish up the third and final round of the tournament Tuesday.
