ThunderWolves in the thick of it at Maverick Invitational

MONTROSE, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 17, 2012) - Led by a fourth place showing by Sean Thomas (Sr., Arvada, Colo.), CSU-Pueblo is part of a logjam of four squads separated by eight strokes vying for the top spot at the Maverick Invitational.

After two rounds of play, the ThunderWolves are sitting in fourth place with a team score of 20-over-par on the par-71 course at the Bridges at Black Canyon Golf Club.  The Pack is two shots behind third-place Western New Mexico and eight shots behind UC-Colorado Springs and Colorado School of Mines, each sporting a score of 12-over-par.

The ThunderWolves sat in fifth after one round of play, and climbed a spot by virtue of second round that saw the Pack shoot a stellar 6-over-par, the third-best team score in the round.

Individually, Thomas' 2-over-par showing over two rounds has him currently three shots out of the lead.  Thomas registered two eagles over the first two rounds, the most in the field of 57.

He was joined in the top ten by Alex Tiong (Jr., Sarawak, Malaysia), a prized ThunderWolf recruit who saw his first action of the season.  He shot a 5-over-par over the first two rounds to sit in 10th place in the individual standings.

The third and final round of the Maverick Invitational will continue Tuesday.
